Article 2. Parking of Large Vehicles

(a)   It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to park any truck with a registered gross weight exceeding 24,000 pound, or trailer, truck tractor, semi-trailer, or the component thereof regardless of weight, up any street or alley in the City of Sylvia, Kansas except as provided in section 14-202.

(b)   Streets and alleys mean the entire width between the boundary lines of every way which is publicly maintained down any part there of which is open to the public for purposes of vehicular traffic.

(a)   Any truck, trailer, truck tractor, semi-trailer, or the trailer component thereof, may be parked on any street or alley in the City of Sylvia, Kansas, for so long as may be necessary to make deliveries of cargo therefrom to stores, residences or business establishments in said city, or to load cargo into such trailers for said premises for delivery elsewhere.

(b)   In case such vehicle is incapacitated or unable to move, it may be so parked for only as long as is reasonably necessary, and not to exceed 72 hours.

(c)   A truck tractor or road tractor may be parked in a driveway on private property, with the consent of owner of said property, if the motor be immediately turned off.

Every person, firm or corporation convicted of a violation of any of the provisions of Section 14-201 shall, for the first conviction thereof, be punished by a fine of not more than $100.00; and for subsequent conviction such person shall be punished by a fine of not more than $500.00 as well as court fees of $94.50, provided however that each day of a violation constitutes a separate offense.
